Mukhtar M. Hasan is the principal shareholder and the Managing Partner of Al Barij.

Activities

Al Barij is a diversified company specializing in corporate finance, new projects, mergers & acquisitions, project management and investments.  The principal shareholder has considerable experience in startups, turnarounds, corporate restructurings, disposals and mergers, as well as structuring and arranging private equity opportunities.  He is also experienced in setting up and managing projects as well as regional and international investments.  

Corporate Finance

The primary area under corporate finance, where ABM is focusing its attention is in the area of providing assistance to sick companies. 

Al Barij is initially approached to act as a consultant for an under performing company either by the Board of Directors of the sick company, or their lenders, be it a bank or the Ministry of Commerce & Industry who may have provided loans to the under performing company.  Al Barij assesses the viability of the company in question and presents a report to the Board and/or the lenders, making recommendations.  Once these recommendations are accepted and approved, Al Barij, if required, gets involved in overseeing the implementation of these recommendations.  This may include finding suitable partners, restructuring of the company management, financial restructuring, improving specific aspects of the business including production, marketing etc.  The extent of involvement of Al Barij is normally dependant on what is required on a case-by-case basis. 

Project Development & Management

Al Barij acts as a lead manager and/or Founder shareholder for setting up new projects in areas of financial services, industry, real estate, travel and tourism etc.  Al Barij has the expertise to develop an entire project from an idea on a drawing board to an operating entity.  This function includes preparing financial and technical feasibility studies; sourcing and negotiating with international technical partners, obtaining commitments from investors, company formation, assisting in obtaining funding and project implementation. 

Al Barij also provides strategic consulting and management advice to organizations to manage the process of change to achieve increased efficiency and profitability.  Al Barij realizes that change management is only possible with commitment and direction from the top and understanding and support at all levels of the organization.  Al Barij works closely with all levels of an organization to achieve the objectives of change.  Al Barij has strategic alliances with several leading international management consultants so that the best appropriate advice is available in all cases.

Al Barij has a strategic alliance with KPMG, Oman, where both parties work closely together on a needs basis for similar assignments.  Al Barij also has international contacts in various areas of business, which they can tap for specific issues if and when required.
